Which scanners work?
Which printers, multifunction devices and document scanners work with PDFMy? In short: almost all network devices of recent years – without drivers. pdfmy Scan (Windows, Mac, Linux) speaks the two standards AirScan/eSCL and WSD directly. USB devices run on Windows via the manufacturer’s driver, on Linux via SANE.

If your device is not listed or is not found
- Network device from approx. 2015 with AirPrint or Mopria: works almost always without drivers. In the scan window “Add device by IP address” – IP or device name (e.g.
EPSON2CBBCB). - “Scanner does not accept jobs”: On Kyocera, Ricoh and some other devices, select WSD Scan → From Computer on the control panel and then scan in PDFMy.
- Large office device: The most reliable option is “Scan to Folder” – the device places the PDF in a folder and PDFMy picks it up automatically.
- USB only: Windows: install the manufacturer’s driver, then the device appears in PDFMy as “Windows driver”. Linux:
sudo apt install sane-utils sane-airscan ipp-usb. Mac: scan into a folder with “Image Capture” and connect that folder in PDFMy. - Still nothing? Click “Log” in the scan window and send it by email – we will add your device: wumertens@mentor-group.de.
As of: October 2026. Information based on manufacturer documentation, user reports and our own tests with simulated devices; model names may vary from country to country. Known device quirks are based, among other things, on the free sane-airscan project.
No model found. Your device usually works anyway if it supports AirPrint or Mopria – see above. Or write to us: wumertens@mentor-group.de.
