Accessibility statement

Mentor GmbH endeavours to make PDFMy (pdfmy.de) accessible – in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Level AA) and EN 301 549, within the meaning of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).

Compliance status

PDFMy is largely compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The assessment is based on a self-assessment dated 19/10/2026: automated testing with axe-core (light and dark mode, phone view, all dialogues – no findings) and manual testing of keyboard operation.

What we have implemented

• Full keyboard operation, visible focus, ‘Skip to content’ link, command search with Ctrl+K
• Place tools (text, note, stamp, signature) with Enter, select with N, move with the arrow keys, delete with Delete
• Labelled controls and forms, status messages for screen readers, sufficient contrast in light and dark mode, support for ‘Reduce motion’
• Accessible PDFs: Every output in PDF/A format is also PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) – with reading order, language and alternative texts, checked with veraPDF.

Non-accessible content

• Freehand pen, highlighting, redacting and covering by dragging on the page require a mouse, pen or touch. Alternatives: redaction suggestions (‘Find personal data’), text and note tools via keyboard.
• Cropping phone photos (moving the corners) requires a mouse or touch; automatic page detection usually makes it unnecessary.
• The camera view shows the detection frame only visually; hints are also displayed as text, and the shutter is a labelled button.
• Documents from external sources saved in ‘PDF’ format remain unchanged (without structure); choose PDF/A for accessible output.

If you do not receive a satisfactory answer, you can contact the authority responsible for market surveillance under the BFSG (Market Surveillance Authority of the Federal States for the Accessibility of Products and Services, MLBF).
